Animating a Water Drop using Flash

Flash is capable of animating characters or objects in the classical way which is a different drawing per frame method, this method is used in special cases when realism is a must in any scene like river flow, fire, waterfall, stretch, squash, etc. So we will animate a similar object to learn the principles of this animation style, we will animate a water drop, the same drop can be used in other projects as well like tears or at rain time.

Water Drop Animation

Waterdrop animation is used in several projects like leaking taps, tears, etc. We will create water drop animation using the frame by frame method, we will use 10 keyframes to give a realistic touch to the animation. Follow the below steps to create a water drop animation.

Step 1: Open a new project in Adobe flash.

Step 2: Change the color of the stage to black.

Step 3: Make a drop using the oval tool and change its shape using the free transform tool.

Step 4: Convert it into a graphic symbol.

Step 5: Double click to enter the symbol and insert a keyframe at frame 3 by pressing F6 and creating a new shape.

Step 6: Now insert a keyframe at frame 5 by pressing F6 and creating a new shape.

Step 7: Turn on the onion skin on the timeline to see the difference between the current and previous frame.

Step 8: Similarly insert keyframes at 7, 9, 11 and change the shape accordingly using the selection tool and free transform tool.

Step 9: Now insert keyframes at 13, 15, 17, and 19 frames and make water drop shapes.

Step 10: Now double-click to come out to the main stage.

Step 11: Insert a frame at frame 28.

Step 12: Press the run button to see the animation.

Congratulations your water drop animation is ready now you can press Ctrl + Enter to see the final output of the animation.
