Barclays Interview Experience for Internship (On-Campus)
Title: Barclays Interview Experience for SDE Intern Role
Introduction:
I recently interviewed with Barclays for the position of Java Developer. The interview process consisted of an online test followed by a shortlisting phase and a subsequent 30-minute interview.
Online Test:
Duration: 60 minutes
- Java-based Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
- 2 medium-level coding questions sourced from platforms like LeetCode and HackerEarth
Shortlist:
After two days, I received a shortlist notification, and the interview rounds were scheduled.
Interview:
Duration: 30 minutes (lasted 15 minutes)
The interviewer initiated the discussion by asking the classic, “Tell me about yourself?” question. As I delved into my education, skills, and projects, the interviewer showed particular interest when I spoke about my projects.
- The discussion shifted to my project’s tech stack, focusing on why I chose Java and MySQL instead of React.js, Node.js, and MongoDB.
The interviewer then tested my understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts:
- “What is the difference between the ‘unique’ keyword and the ‘distinct’ keywords?”
Moving on to SQL, the questions were tailored to my project:
- Questions about SQL tables and their relations within the project.
The interviewer seemed satisfied with my responses, leading to two HR-based questions:
- Question 1: “If you were assigned a project as the project lead, and team members were not meeting deadlines, what would you do?”
- Question 2: “Based on Barclays values RISES, how do you align with these values professionally?”
The interview concluded with a wish of good luck, marking the end of my first interview with Barclays.
