Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited Work Experience

I have been working at BHEL Trichy for three months as a Graduate Apprentice Trainee. I learned about the Off-Campus Drive Recruitment, which involved only one direct written test and a personal interview. I was very interested in joining the company. This opportunity was provided by BHEL and my friends who supported me in joining the company.

I joined BHEL Trichy on 19th February 2024. Initially, I underwent ten days of training at the Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), where the staff trained us on boilers, how to conduct ourselves as trainees, safety measures for handling equipment, and sexual harassment prevention.

After completing the training at HRDC, students who joined as Apprentice Trainees at BHEL Trichy were assigned to various departments. I was assigned to the Information Technology Solutions and Services / Fossil Boilers department. I gained experience in various industry sectors such as manufacturing, civil engineering, planning, operations, fitting, welding, and pipeline management. My shift timings are from 8 AM to 4:30 PM. I was excited to work in this department at BHEL Trichy. I was assigned to the Networking and Server Management section, specifically in a Service Desk role. Although I had no prior experience in this role, they explained my responsibilities, and I quickly grasped the role and tasks.

I was then instructed to learn Linux, networking basics, types of servers, and how to handle hardware complaints. In my daily work, I typically handle hardware-related issues, solving them promptly. I have learned to address problems related to PC hardware, software issues, drawing-related problems, Outlook mail issues, SAP issues, and issues related to software like AutoCAD, E3D, and Tekla. I noticed that daily tasks such as drawing designs, managing pipes and valves, and handling orders often go through outsourcing.

In my company, the Executive Director is Mr. Prabhakaran, and the Senior Deputy Manager of my department is Ms. Shanmurga Priya Durga. The staff members have been very interactive with me and my friends, and we are really happy to be working here.
