Chandigarh University, Mohali, Punjab Campus Experience

9th August 2024, Chandigarh University Campus, Mohali, Punjab, 140413- First day of college

95.5% in the ISC class 12 board examination 93 percentile in JEE mains 2023 and 4257 rank in WBJEE, I was still unable to get CSE in any of the prestigious GFTI or NITs except for NIT Sikkim. Despite being able to get civil, mechanical and other courses in some of the NITs and CSE in all the colleges of West Bengal except for Jadavpur and Calcutta University, I still choose to pursue my CSE from Chandigarh University.

Chandigarh University is a Tier 3 college with an NAAC A+ rating. The curriculum is very basic and not very helpful in the industry but it surely provides a very vast campus and lots of people to network with. CU provides all kinds of opportunities, all a person needs to do is go and grab them.

My classes started on 9th August,2023. those classes were called Orientation classes. Those classes were only meant to make the students familiar with the rules and regulations of the college. The actual classes began on 22nd August, 2023.

The curriculum for the first year of the BE course is the same for all the departments. Frankly, for someone who is determined about their goals and dreams, that first year is a waste of 1 year but it surely provides a lot of experience and broadens the mindset of students.

CU has lots of assignments, practical file writing, case studies, presentations, quizzes and surprise tests.

The classes usually start from 9:30 am till 4:20 pm. You might also get breaks in between, varies from section to section. You can plan your day accordingly to complete all the assignments, files and other stuff during the lecture itself. You can study all the subjects from YouTube or from the study material CU provides in the form of PDFs and PPTs.

From 4:20 pm till 2:00 am you have all the time to focus on extracurricular activities such as joining a society, hackathons, seminars, sports, upskilling in the field which is required in the industry and making yourself ready for the corporate world of starting a business or any other fields according to your interests, fun with friends, making memories and experiencing love (very important as this is the only age to do so).

Overall, Chandigarh University is good if you want to or if you do not want to study. It all depends on the student. If a student wants to crack something big, they will take out time of their daily life and make their dreams come true.

I’d like to conclude my experience by advising that, do as much upskilling as possible, do DSA, make real-world problem-solving projects along with small projects, do internship, gain experience, participate in hackathons, SIH, GSOC, MLM, attain a position of responsibility in one of the societies in your college, do as much networking as possible, do public speaking, play a sport, make memories, stop being lazy and get disciplined, and lastly STAY CONSISTENT.
