DRDO Apprenticeship Training Programme 2024-25 Experience

Hey, as software engineers, we have numerous private companies to kickstart our careers. As you know, beginning our career often entails participating in an internship or apprenticeship. Most private organizations offer various types of internships:

• Internship with stipend
• Internship without stipend
• Remote/virtual internship
• Offline internship

Apart from the private sector, governments also provide internships for students, both with and without stipends, either remote or offline.

DRDO Apprenticeship :

Let’s talk about apprenticeships in detail:

• An apprenticeship is typically a one-year training program.
• DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation) is a government organization.
• An apprenticeship is similar to having one year of experience.
• They provide a decent stipend.
• Since it’s a government program, adding it to your resume adds significant weightage.

I have been shortlisted for the Graduate Apprentice Training Program 2024-25 at GTRE, Bangalore. This program is for Graduate Apprentice Trainees (BE/BTech/Equivalent), as advertised in GTRE Advt. No. GTRE/HRD/026/2024-25. I applied for it through an online form, providing all my academic details including grades, and submitting my resume.

Please note that the qualifying examination must be completed as a regular candidate only.

Note: There is no provision for permanent or temporary appointment upon completion of my apprenticeship training in DRDO.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Degree in specified engineering disciplines (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science).
• Applicants must meet the minimum age requirement of 18 years. However, there are varying maximum age limits depending on the category.
• Must be registered on the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) portal.

Selection Process:

• Grades
• Resume

The selection is based solely on your CGPA/Grades and the strength of your resume. As I have the highest CGPA in my college, making me the topper of the class, I was shortlisted on my first attempt.
