Goldman Sachs Interview Experience For Internship (On-Campus) 2022

Goldman Sachs conducted 3 rounds of tests for the position of summer analyst 2022 through their Engineering Campus Hiring Program. The hiring process started in August and carried on till early December. The tests were conducted on HackerRank with video proctoring.

Round 1(Aptitude Test):

The first round was the Aptitude Test which was scheduled for 22nd August 2021 on HackerRank. The total duration was 1 hour 30 minutes. There was a total of 66 questions divided into 6 sections. The marking scheme was +5 for the correct answer and -2 for an incorrect answer.

The sections were:

  • Numerical Computations – 8 questions
  • Numerical Reasoning -12 questions
  • Comprehension – 10 questions
  • Abstract Reasoning – 12 questions
  • Diagrammatic Reasoning – 12 questions
  • Logical Reasoning – 12 questions

Topics – Probability, Permutation, Combination, General Aptitude and Reasoning, Comprehension-based questions.

Round 2(Technical Test):

The second round was Technical Test which was scheduled for 24th October 2021 on HackerRank. The test has 4 sections and the duration was 1 hour 50 minutes. All sections are mandatory. Each MCQ earns you 5 marks for the correct answer and -2 for the incorrect answer.

The CS multiple-choice section has 7 MCQs and the duration is 20 mins. The Quant section has 11 MCQs and the duration is 45 mins. The Advanced Programming section has 2 programming questions and the duration is 30 mins. The Subjective section has 2 questions and the duration is 15 mins.

You can’t switch between 2 sections and each of them is time-bounded.

Round 3(Interview):

This happened on 8th December. I received a mail on 7th December, that I had my interviews scheduled for the next day. There were in total three rounds of interviews. We were said to be on a Zoom call from 9:45 AM. There were 30-32 candidates in my room.

Then they start shifting candidates lithographically to various interviewers. There were two rooms, Pre-interview-Room and Post-interview-room in which we were being shifted accordingly by the HRs after and before the interview round.

Interview Round 1 –

This round started around 11:30 am and lasted for about 30-40 mins. The round started with an introduction and a little discussion about my project. Then the interviewer asked about OOPS and asked me to implement function overloading. After that, I was asked a DSA question which was:

Then the interviewer asked if I had any questions. I asked my questions and then the interview ended.

Interview Round 2 –

This round started around 1 pm and lasted for about 1 hour. This round also started with an introduction. There was a good amount of discussion about my project in this round. Then I was asked a DSA question which was:

After that, I was asked to write a couple of SQL queries and after that, the interviewer asked one puzzle which was:

Then the questions round happened and this round ended.

Interview Round 3 –

This round started around 3 pm and lasted for about 30 mins. This round again began with an introduction. A good amount of discussion around the project happened in this round also. After that, he asked a DSA question which was:

and also, a more optimized approach to that question. And then I was asked to write some SQL queries. And then, this round came to an end. Through all three rounds of interviews, the interviewer was encouraged to talk about the thinking process revolving around the problem.

Then at around 5 pm, we were told that the process had come to an end and the results would be declared afterwards.
