Hacktoberfest Experience of Open Source Contribution

Once you dive into the field of Open Source Contribution, most probably you will never set back from it,

It’s a very interesting field that everyone needs to be involved.

Key Points I gained from Open source contribution are:

  1. Time Management.
  2. Deadlines.
  3. Helpful for Society.
  4. Collaboration.
  5. Exposure to Real-World Projects.
  6. Skill development.

Started my journey by participating in Hacktoberfest, made Successful 4 PRs, and planted a tree in my name.

Initially, it was a little difficult as need to learn Git and Git Hub for workflow. Next got the opportunity to participate in the JWOC Winter of Code open-source program, where secured 16th position among Contributors. Collaboration with mentors and project admins enriches our communication and teamwork. I would like to say that, it teaches some industry-level skills. Further, I got into GSSoC (Girl Script Summer Of Code) which is a great three months Summer Open-source program. I’m presently a contributor to this program, I am excited to find out how high I can reach. I would suggest to you all that every day if you give one hour in this field it keeps your skills active and enough to achieve great.

  • *All masters were once beginners.*

Thank You,

Best Wishes For All
