HCL Interview Experience

Round 1: Aptitude Test

My Experience:

The first round was an online aptitude test that lasted for about 90 minutes. The test was divided into three sections: Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, and Verbal Ability. The Quantitative section had questions on topics like percentages, time and work, and probability. The Logical Reasoning section included puzzles, series, and data interpretation questions. The Verbal Ability section covered grammar, vocabulary, and reading comprehension.

Preparation:

I prepared using the Quantitative Aptitude book by R.S. Aggarwal and practised with online mock tests. Managing time efficiently was important, so I focused on improving my speed and accuracy.

Round 2: Technical Test

My Experience:

The second round was a technical test that included coding questions. I was required to write code in C++ and Java. The test also covered data structures such as arrays, linked lists, and sorting algorithms, as well as some basic SQL queries.

Preparation:

I practised coding on platforms like w3wiki and LeetCode. I also reviewed data structures and algorithms through YouTube tutorials and books. Additionally, I brushed up on my SQL knowledge by practising queries.

Round 3: Technical Interview

My Experience:

The technical interview involved in-depth questions about the projects listed on my resume. The interviewer asked me to explain the technologies used, my role, and the challenges I faced. I was also given a coding problem to solve on the spot and asked questions about databases, operating systems, and networking concepts.

Preparation:

I thoroughly revised my projects and prepared to discuss them in detail. I practised solving coding problems on HackerRank and CodeChef and reviewed concepts of operating systems and networking.

Round 4: HR Interview

My Experience:

The HR interview was friendly and conversational. I was asked to introduce myself, discuss my career aspirations, and explain why I wanted to join HCL. The HR manager also asked situational questions, such as how I would handle a difficult team member.

Preparation:

I researched HCL’s history, mission, and recent projects. I practised answers to common HR questions and thought about my long-term career goals and how they aligned with the company.

  1. Dress Professionally: Wear formal attire to make a good impression.
