How to Request Money on PhonePe?
PhonePe offers a convenient way to request money from your contacts if you need to split a bill, collect a debt, or receive payment.
Important Things to Remember
- The person you’re requesting money from must also have a PhonePe account.
- They will receive a notification and can approve or decline your request.
- While requesting money, do not enter your UPI PIN. Your PIN is only needed when sending money, not requesting it.
Methods to Request Money on PhonePe
Using the ‘Request’ Button
- Open the PhonePe app and tap the “Request” button (often found on the main home screen).
- Enter the phone number of the person you want to request money from or select them from your contacts.
- Enter the amount and add a note or description of the payment if you like.
- Tap on the “Request” button to send the payment request.
Through the Chat Feature
- Open a chat with the contact you wish to request money from.
- Type the amount you want to request, followed by a space. For example, “₹1000“
- Tap the send button. PhonePe will recognize this as a payment request.
Requesting via UPI ID
- Tap “To Contact” or similar within the money transfer section of the app.
- Select the “UPI ID” option.
- Enter the person’s UPI ID.
- Hit the “Verify” button.
- Tap on the “Request” option.
- Enter the amount and send the request.
Additional Tips
- Use the notes/description section to remind the person what the payment is for.
- Be patient. It may take some time for the other person to respond to the request.
- If the request is urgent, you can follow up with a call or a message.
