IET, Lucknow Campus Experience

Situated on a sprawling campus, IET Lucknow felt like heaven to me. The vast greens, large fields and a crowded canteen are my favourite places because of the peace and freedom they afford. The crowded menu of the canteen makes it an ideal place for friends to relax and exchange experiences. The library is stocked with books on STEM courses which is a bummer for people like me who see education in a broader sense. But, quantity-wise and quality-wise, the books make any reader happy. The college has a prestigious auditorium with excellent audio-visual facilities like video conferencing, digital projection etc. The sophisticated and classy infrastructure enhances the beauty of the campus.

Being a freshman, Computer Science and Engineering has been a challenging yet satisfying academic experience for me. Although the classrooms are not very comfortable and equipped, they serve the purpose. The professors are knowledgeable and friendly which makes learning pleasant. I found out that one of our profs. has worked with DRDO, HAL and a few other prestigious research labs which boosted my faith in the faculty.

A lot of student clubs and organisations. make the campus life in IET worth remembering. Technical, cultural, sports and social clubs are there to cater to the desires of the students. Each club waits for the fresh batch and starts auditioning in the second semester. Sports facilities include a cricket and football ground, open tennis courts, and basketball and badminton courts in the hostel premises which satisfy the desires of the sports enthusiasts. I am a member of Dramatics, Literature, Art, Social, Singing and Photography clubs.

The spirit of friendship and festivity dominates the various departmental fests organized in the year. One gets plenty of time to loosen up, have fun and do a lot of things alongside friends. Different clubs involve the students and make each fest a memorable event. The entire campus reflects excitement and joy during these times which is a much-needed respite from the academic pressure.

I was thrilled to discover the Navyug Navachar Foundation (NNF), an innovation incubator. The day I joined, I could feel the vibrancy the space exuded. The people at NNF knew the problems the startups usually encounter and provided whatever was necessary from infrastructure, and lab support to funding. But the actual worth came through guidance and networking. Renowned entrepreneurs with sound experience advised and mentored. I became a valuable asset to the NNF team.

Looking back, I don’t regret my choice of opting for IET Lucknow over the prestigious IITs and NITs. The college might not be a perfect holistic place that grooms a student in academics as well as personality but the guidance of the seniors makes it easy. This positive atmosphere motivates me to help others in whichever way possible. Be it the clubs or academics, I would be able to serve as a helping hand to my juniors in my remaining years in college.
