Pros & Cons

Pros

  • You get a chance to get out of your shell
  • Great for a beginner who is starting out on an internship journey.
  • You learn the ability to persuade people.
  • You get decent pay(Cumulatively, I invested around 8-10 hours to secure 50 signups and received 600 which is not half bad)

Cons

  • If you plan to do one marketing internships which asks people to signup for apps, it’s fine; but if you plan to do more, then you are into losing some friends and entering into some people’s block lists(Don’t worry, I only did one, so I’m cool).
  • Some people may feel that the payment you get is less.

Overall Experience

The overall experience with the company was great. They met all their promises and in my opinion, the pay is decent compared to many internships which only take the labour of college students for free in the name of internship.

They had two options to collect the certificate and other rewards; to get it in person or to get it via email, I chose the former to just see their office and to reap the benefits of my labour in person. The office was a typical startup office, probably an incubator-provided one. The company’s head asked me for my basic details and filled in the certificate and LOR right in front of me and gave me 600 Rs(100 went for transportation, therefore, the net is 500 for me; but as I said, you also had the option to get it online).

So, I enjoyed the overall experience, As a second-year student, 600 Rs was a big deal for me and my folks were also happy for me.

Highway Connect Work Experience as Marketing Intern

Highway Connect is a start-up focused on Highway journeyers. I saw their job post on Instagram when I entered my second year.

It was a WFH marketing internship opportunity of 15 days at the company. Which had great perks for a starting intern(at least at that time, I thought so). You had to make people sign up for the app and depending on how many you onboard, you get a chance to earn a certificate, some money, and an LOR.

The app is there for both Android and IOS and if I remember correctly IOS ones had more value(probably because they have more people who pay for apps).

Structure of pay

I’m a little hasty with the pay structure, but here is an outline. 20-30 signups: certificate 50 signups: certificate, LOR 100 signups: you got some goody along(don’t remember what) with everything mentioned above. So I had my eyes set on the 50 signups tier....

Key Responsibilities

Make people sign up for the apps Enter the info of the people you made to sign in an Excel sheet Send the Excel sheet at the end of the internship to the company for verification....

What did I learn?

I learned to persuade people into doing something(no surprise, it was a marketing job) which I think is a nifty skill to have. Learned some WFH skills by coordinating with the Company virtually. Was able to get a taste of start-up culture which I don’t think was that bad....
