LNMIIT, Jaipur Admission Experience

Hey, I’m from the small town of Bharatpur, Rajasthan. In this blog, I’m excited to share my college admission journey with you.

After securing a 98.03 percentile in my first attempt at JEE Mains, I decided to forgo another attempt and instead dedicated myself to preparing for JEE Advanced. Through diligent preparation, I achieved a rank of 13,290 in JEE Advanced.

So I had two choices: either take admission in a decent tier-1 or tier-2 college or take a drop year (Knew that I wouldn’t be able to get into any of the top seven IITs). Taking a drop year didn’t seem like a viable option, so I eliminated it and began researching tier-1 colleges that I might get into based on last year’s data.

I was at a crossroads: I could either choose a lower branch in top-ranking NITs and IITs or pursue a more desirable branch like CSE or IT from lower-ranked NITs or a reputable private college such as BITS, LNMIIT, or DAIICT. I was really confused about which path to take. On one hand, I was considering the prestige of an IIT, and on the other hand, I was inclined towards pursuing CSE, even from a tier-2 college.

After consulting with my well-settled knowns, everyone advised that in the coming years, the value of a college tag will diminish, whereas the value of the branch will remain significant. They suggested choosing a college based on the branch rather than the institution’s prestige.

With this clarity, I decided to focus on securing a place in a lower-ranked NIT or a reputable private college where I could study CSE or IT. I realized that having a strong foundation in a high-demand field like computer science would better prepare me for the future, given the rapid advancements and opportunities in the technology sector.

When JoSAA counselling started, I carefully listed my preferred colleges, ensuring that my choices aligned with my goal of studying CSE. I included lower-ranked NITs where I had a higher chance of getting the desired branch. Additionally, I filled out application forms for reputable private colleges such as LNMIIT and DAIICT, which are known for their strong computer science programs and good placement records.

Days passed, and the JoSAA counselling rounds progressed, but I wasn’t able to secure admission to the higher-ranked NITs that I had hoped for. In the final round, I was allotted CSE at NIT Srinagar. Simultaneously, the counselling process for LNMIIT was ongoing, and I received an offer for CSE in the first round itself.

After consulting with my family members, we carefully weighed the pros and cons of NIT Srinagar and LNMIIT. We ultimately decided to eliminate the option of NIT Srinagar for several reasons.

Firstly, NIT Srinagar is quite far from my hometown, which would make travelling and staying in touch with family more challenging. Being far from home could also lead to higher travel costs and less frequent visits, adding to the overall strain and difficulty of the college experience.

Secondly, there were significant safety concerns. The region has experienced instability and occasional incidents of terrorism, which raised fears about my well-being. The potential risks associated with studying in such an environment were deemed too high by my family. Safety and peace of mind are crucial for focusing on studies and overall well-being, and we didn’t want these concerns to affect my academic performance and college life.

Considering these factors, LNMIIT emerged as the better option. It offers a strong CSE program and is located in a safer and more accessible area. This choice would not only provide a good education but also ensure that I remain closer to home and in a secure environment, enabling me to focus fully on my studies and future career.

Therefore, after thorough discussions and taking into account all these aspects, we decided that pursuing CSE at LNMIIT would be the best path forward.

Now that I was clear about my decision to choose LNMIIT, the next step was to submit the fees and necessary documents to proceed with the admission process. This typically included academic transcripts, certificates, identification documents, and any other paperwork required by the college. Once these documents were submitted and verified, I could move forward with securing my admission to LNMIIT.

With all the paperwork completed, we went to the college campus for the final admission process and hostel allotment. It was a significant step towards officially becoming a student at LNMIIT.

Upon reaching the college, I was delighted to behold the vast, lush green campus of LNMIIT. The serene atmosphere was a promising start to my college journey.

The admission process involved several steps, around 4 to 5 in total, including biometric verification (fingerprint and face recognition) and the submission of various details. We began with the hostel allotment process. However, I felt a pang of disappointment when I was assigned a triple-sharing room. Despite the less-than-ideal condition of the hostel room, I tried to maintain a positive outlook, reminding myself that sometimes compromises are necessary.

After completing the remaining steps of the admission process, I finally received my ID card. It was a tangible symbol of my official status as a student of LNMIIT. Holding it in my hand, I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness for the journey ahead. This simple card represented the beginning of a new chapter in my life, filled with opportunities for growth, learning, and unforgettable experiences.

That concludes my admission journey. Stay tuned for my upcoming blog articles, where I’ll dive into the adventures of my college life. Thank you for reading!
