Lucidity Interview Experience for Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

Hi Everyone, in this article I will be sharing my interview experience for the role of SDET at Lucidity, which is a startup.

Before beginning with the experience, I would like to share a quick insight into who is an SDET and what are the roles and responsibilities of the profile.

An SDET, or Software Development Engineer in Test, plays a crucial role in software engineering that combines software development with testing to ensure software quality. They are responsible for automation testing, building and designing testing frameworks etc.

So, starting with the interview experience, I applied for the job post and reached out to the recruiter on LinkedIn, then I got a call from the recruiter where she asked for a few details and we moved to the first interview round

Round 1: Technical Coding and Automation Round

This round was a mix of DSA problems and questions based on testing methodologies. The interviewer initially gave me one string manipulation-related problem to solve and then he asked me questions related to test case designing, and automation, describing the framework in detail. Since the hiring was for the very starting SDET team, he grilled me a lot on the testing fundamental concepts and automation-related details. He also asked me questions about my role and responsibility in the current organization etc.

Round 2: Hands-on Assignment Round

I was successfully able to clear round 1 and moved to round 2. This was a Hands-on Assignment Round which was to be submitted in a week. So the question was to create mock test cases for ordering api of Zomato which gives different discounts to different people as per the order value. This framework was based on Spring Boot and Java.

I was not able to complete the assignment as I had joined another company.

Tips :

  • Prepare your resume well.
  • Prepare DSA questions
  • Prepare questions based on testing methodologies and automation.
  • Speak out whatever you are thinking, it helps the interviewer to understand and he might give you a few hints.

Overall the experience was very good and the recruiter was very helpful.
