Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology (MMMUT), Gorakhpur Campus Experience

Hi everyone, I’m here to share my MMMUT, Gorakhpur campus experience.

So, Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology (MMMUT) is located in Gorakhpur which is about 300-400km in East Uttar Pradesh from Lucknow. Earlier, MMMUT used to be called as MMMEC (Madan Mohan Malaviya Engineering College) and was established in 1962. This is an autonomous body means the college do not come under any other other goverment body. Previously, there was a separate exam through which MMMUT gives admission but now it accepts the JEE Mains score as per my current knowledge.

I have done my Bachelor’s of Technology (B.Tech) from this college and spent around 4 years in this campus. In this experience I will talk about the infrastructure of the campus and facilities like academics, library, hostels etc. So, I will start why did I choose this college. I will be honest with you, no one dreams to get the admission into the state engineering colleges. Everyone want to go to IIT or NIT. Same the case with me, I did not get any good IIT’s or NIT’s. I’ve got the information from somewhere that MMMUT has released it’s form. So, I just filled it up and posted it to the college (earlier the college used to ask for the speed post of the form). When I arrived to Gorakhpur, there was a bus from the college which was ready to pick up the students. I reached the college in some time. When I reached there, I was really impressed by the infrastructure. I could see all of them at once as I was going to Multi Purpose Hall (MPH), where admission process needs to be done, like administration building, library, IT Resource Center (ITRC), Civil, Computer Science, IT Deparments etc. I was overwhelmed at first.

I was admitted into Computer Science and Engineering branch and in the 1st semester, we have all the subjects related to almost every branch except Civil and Mechanical. The academics for the CSE branch is set as per requirements of the CSE student. It is very well structured and all the subjects are covered as per GATE subjects. All the teachers in CSE department are good. The best teacher was Manish sir who taught us Theory of Computation in the 3rd semester. He doesn’t care about the attendance of the student and also teaches very well.

One thing I wanted to share with you that more than teachers and professors, you will be helped by your seniors. So as you enter the college, try to connect with seniors and interact with. The more you interact, the more they will support you in upcoming years.

Campus life of MMMUT is good. You will get the hostel for both boys and girls almost for all the courses with all branches. There are a lot of hostels for boys specially. I lived in Ramanujan Hostel, then Tagore Hostel and then finally shifted to Subhash Bhawan. In first and second year, 1 room is alloted for 4 students and single room in final year. Luckily we were only 3 roommates because 1 guy didn’t arrived (maybe he got admission somewhere else). You will get all the facilites here like cafeteria, night canteen, ITRC, MPH, sports ground, library, you name it. Let’s talk about the food. As usual, the food in the mess will be good for 1-2 weeks and then you will make a shift to either cafeteria or canteen. A lot of food stalls are there outside of the campus. One of the best and affordable restaurants is Crazy Bite. There are other good and fancy restaurants in the city like Rangrezza and Cinnamon Restaurant, you will get to know as you will spend some time here.

So, my final advice to upcoming students will be to make friends wisely because you are going to spend your most awesome part of life here and have some quality time with your friends and seniors. Keep upscaling yourseld in terms of health and skills. Keep the balance between the studies and friendships. All the best for your journey. Thank you!
