The New India Assurance Company Limited or in short NIACL is an undertaking of the Government of India. The post for which NIACL rolled out the application forms was Assistant. There were a total of 300 posts of Assistant for which the application forms were rolled out.

In this article, I will discuss many things related to this exam i.e. the registration fees, different sections of this exam, etc. So, this exam was expected to be held in March 2024. As far as I remember, the TIER-I exam was scheduled for 02nd March 2024. Talking about the registration fees, it was Rs. 850 for General/ OBC and for SC/ST it was Rs. 100. The registration process started on 01st February and concluded on 15th February 2024. So, the candidates only had 15 days to register for this entrance exam. One thing that is different in this entrance exam is that if a candidate is applying against the vacancies in for example Delhi State, then they can opt for the centre in Delhi only and that candidate would be considered for employment in Delhi only. The candidates are finally selected when they pass all three stages: TIER-I, TIER-II and Regional Language Test. So, now let’s talk about all the three stages:-

TIER-I

The TIER-I exam consists of the following sections:-

  • English: The number of questions asked in this section is 30 and each question is of 1 mark.
  • Reasoning: The number of questions asked in this section is 35 and each question is of 1 mark.
  • Numerical Ability: The number of questions asked in this section is 35 and each question is of 1 mark.

These three sections are there in the TIER-I exam. Each question is of 1 mark thus making a total of 100 marks and 1/4th mark is deducted if the candidate has given a wrong answer. The time duration of TIER-I exam is 60 minutes (1 hour). Now, let’s jump to TIER-II exam.

TIER-II

The TIER-II exam consists of the following sections:-

  • English: The number of questions asked in this section is 40 and the total mark is 50.
  • Reasoning: The number of questions asked in this section is 40 and the total mark is 50.
  • Numerical Ability: The number of questions asked in this section is 40 and the total mark is 50.
  • Computer Knowledge: The number of questions asked in this section is 40 and the total mark is 50.
  • General Awareness: The number of questions asked in this section is 40 and the total mark is 50.

These five sections are there in the TIER-II exam. The time allotted to the candidates is 120 minutes (2 hours).

TIER-III (Regional Language Test)

This test checks your knowledge of reading, writing as well as speaking of your regional language. A candidate reaches this stage only when they have passed the TIER-I exam as well as the TIER-II exam. This test is qualifying in nature. Here, qualifying means that the candidate has to clear this stage before getting the offer letter. If a candidate is not able to clear this stage, then they would be disqualified.

My Experience: This exam is almost similar to that of RBI Assistant which I had given in November 2023. So, I prepared for it by taking help from Telegram wherein I joined many different channels in which experts help the students in clearing the topics by providing previous year’s papers, mock tests, and books that they have published in PDF Form. The teachers provide such material free of cost. Other than Telegram, I gave around 50-60 mock tests after which I got an idea of how the real exam would look like.

After I appeared for the TIER-I exam and returned home, I analysed the areas in which I was strong and the areas in which I was weak. After I checked the TIER-I results, my name was not there but that day I decided that one day I would clear any government exam. So, my suggestion to everyone would be that all government entrance exams have almost similar syllabus, you just have to give more and more mock tests and analyse your weak areas and correct them as soon as possible before it’s too late.

In the end, I would suggest to the upcoming candidates that they should be strong in all the sections that are asked in various government entrance exams and also prepare for these regional language tests as well. These regional language tests are mostly qualifying in nature and if the candidate thinks that I will work hard for this section at the very last moment, then there might be a possibility that you might not get the offer. So, work hard and you will pass with flying colours.

Good Luck!!
