NIT Kurukshetra Admission Experience

9th April 2022, 9:00 AM

98.13%ile in JEE MAINS 2021, I was getting ECE in NIT Kurukshetra.

We started from my home town, it was 2 hours flight journey to reach Delhi and had to catch a train from Delhi to Kurukshetra(Which takes around 3hrs to reach). I had my father accompany me, we were all set to visit my college!

Time: Reporting time was 1.00 pm, we reached at around 2 pm.

Journey from railway station to college was very mundane, there is nothing super special or exciting to look at along the way, but as soon as we entered my college campus, It was like heaven! There were soo many Jacaranda trees and straight, long, perfectly placed roads and organized buildings.

We were told to reach H-3 for verification, as soon as we reached there, there was a huge line of students waiting to join into the hostel. We miss understood that we had to stand in the line, but we just had to go to the office and get my files verification done.

The verification process consisted of all important documents such as :

  • Seat Acceptance Letter
  • Provisional admission letter
  • 12th marksheet
  • 10th marksheet
  • Reservation certificate (If any)
  • Aadhar
  • Seat allotment letter

After we figured it all out, we were given a choice to join 1 out of 3 hotels(H 1, H 2, H3). Since I joined college in covid times, my first semester was online, I made really good friends who already came to college and was done with their verification and hostel allotment. They asked me to pick H-1(Where I spent the rest of my freshmen year of my college!). We quickly navigated to H 1 and met all of my online friends. They had it all sorted out, we just had to register and add my name into room number 123.

The hostel condition was really terrible to be honest, It was 3 seater and the condition of washroom is terrific. There was barely any place left for us to sit in room because of the beds and study table. My father complained about this to hostel warden to which he responded that it might be possible that they might turn the rooms into 4 seater. But on the brighter side we will be shifted to new hostels after 2nd semester(which was around 3 months), in which we will get single seater. It was a sigh of relief, we all headed back to meet other friends and classmates.

Since my father is staying with me for couple of days in my college, we had to book a room for him. Luckily NIT Kurukshetra arranges accommodation to student’s relatives at very less price. We were asked to go to H 11 for further information, that’s when I saw how bog our college campus actually was!(There were 11 boys hostels). The price for 1 night in H11 was 350 Rupees, my father and I stayed there for 3 days and explored not only the campus but entire Kurukshetra(There’s nothing much in Kurukshetra).

My father left Kurukshetra on 11th April and we shared a heartful hug before getting apart for the first time! My father was super proud that I had the opportunity to live in such good campus and learn the course of my choice(Electronics and Communication Engineering).
