NIT MCA Common Entrance Test (NIMCET) Exam Experience 2022

I am a student of MCA at NIT Trichy. Yes, most people don’t know that you can pursue an MCA from top NITs. The entrance exam for admission here is NIMCET. I took the NIMCET ’22 exam,

I was a self-study student, I didn’t take any coaching for this exam. When I couldn’t secure admission to a Tier 1 college for my bachelor’s degree, I decided to excel in my master’s. I kept searching for opportunities and discovered the NIMCET exam, which is held for MCA admissions in NITs.

From the second year of my bachelor’s, I started studying through YouTube. I followed Physics Wallah and other resources to prepare for the math syllabus as the syllabus is mostly same as JEE. I was preparing alongside my bachelor’s academics, so my preparation was inconsistent. It went really well for one or two months, and then I wouldn’t study for a few weeks or even a month. Coping with this challenge was difficult.

After November of my third year, I began preparing very seriously. By March, I had completed 60% of my math syllabus. I bought a test series from Impetus Gurukul Coaching, which was the real game-changer. When I took the tests, I realized where I was lagging. Until the exam, I took numerous tests daily; one test per day was mandatory for me. That’s how I prepared for the exam.

There are only 31 centers for this exam in India, and I am from Haridwar, Uttarakhand. The nearest center to me was Delhi, so I had to go to Delhi a day before the exam to be in a good state of mind. At the exam center, everything went very smoothly. There were two or three security checks to ensure we didn’t have any devices or cheating material. They made us very comfortable in the lab. In short, everything went really smoothly.

This exam was conducted in June 2021, and the results were out in the first week of July. I got a rank under 1000. Initially, I was really demotivated, thinking I might not get into a good college. But then I applied for admission, and within a week, I found out that I had been allotted a seat at NIT Trichy.
