OffsetTime get() method in Java with examples

The get() method of OffsetTime class in Java gets the value of the specified field from this time as an int.
Syntax :

public int get(TemporalField field)

Parameter : This method accepts a parameter field which specifies the field to get, not null.
Return Value: It returns the value for the field.
Exceptions: The function throws three exceptions which are described below:

  • UnsupportedTemporalTypeException: it is thrown if the field is not supported or the range of values exceeds an int
  • DateTimeException: it is thrown if a value for the field cannot be obtained or the value is outside the range of valid values for the field.
  • ArithmeticException: it is thrown if numeric overflow occurs

Below programs illustrate the get() method:
Program 1 :

Java

// Java program to demonstrate the get() method

import java.time.OffsetTime;
import java.time.temporal.ChronoField;

public class GFG {
    public static void main(String[] args)
    {

        // Parses the time
        OffsetTime time = OffsetTime.parse("15:30:30+07:00");

        // gets the time
        System.out.println(time.get(ChronoField.CLOCK_HOUR_OF_DAY));
    }
}

Output:

15

Program 2

Java

// Java program to demonstrate the get() method

import java.time.OffsetTime;
import java.time.temporal.ChronoField;

public class GFG {
    public static void main(String[] args)
    {
        try {
            // Parses the time
            OffsetTime time = OffsetTime.parse("25:30:30+01:00");

            // gets the time
            System.out.println(time.get(ChronoField.CLOCK_HOUR_OF_DAY));
        }
        catch (Exception e) {
            System.out.println(e);
        }
    }
}

Output:

java.time.format.DateTimeParseException: Text '25:30:30+01:00' could not be parsed: Invalid value for HourOfDay (valid values 0 - 23): 25
