PayPal Interview Exoerience For SWE

Recently, Paypal came to our campus for hiring for the role of Software Developer fresher. Multiple students registered for the opportunity. They told us that there will be three rounds in the entire candidate selection process. The description of rounds according to my experience is as follows:

Round 1 (Online Assessment)

  • Conducted on the HackerRank platform.
  • 11 questions overall.
  • Two coding questions (simple DSA problems).
  • MCQs based on C language, JavaScript, and SQL.
  • Test duration: 90 minutes.

Round 2 (Technical Interview)

  • Started with a simple array problem.
  • Discussed implementation of heaps and answered related questions.
  • Explored time complexities of the problems.

Round 3 (Behavioral Interview – Final Round):

  • Began with “Tell me about yourself.”
  • Explained your projects.
  • Discussed types of databases.
  • Technology-related questions (e.g., AWS).
  • Proposed new features for Instagram.
  • Why PayPal and self-rating.

Overall Experience: With proper preparation, cracking a PayPal interview is achievable. Although you were rejected after the final round, it’s still a valuable experience. The friendly interviewers asked basic questions. Remember to be strong in DSA, DBMS, and OOPs fundamentals, and prepare for common behavioral interview questions.
