Paypal Interview for Internship for Data Analytics in VIT University

This recounts an internship interview conducted by PayPal at VIT University, specifically focusing on the Data Analytics side. The interview process consisted of three rounds in total.

1st Round: It is an online test administered through HackerRank, comprising primarily aptitude questions. Participants were allotted a total of 40 questions to be completed within a one-hour time frame (although this duration might vary). Additionally, there was a possibility of encountering one or two coding questions alongside the aptitude queries.

Out of the 563 students who participated in the test, 54 were shortlisted for the next round based on their performance in both the test scores and CGPA.

2nd Round: The second round comprised a 15-minute interview session. During this round, the interviewer posed questions from the following aptitude ability topics

  • Work and time
  • Probabilities.
  • Profit and loss.

And also asked about my favorite subject.

From the initial pool of 54 students, 12 were selected to proceed to the final round.

3rd Round: In the final round, which lasted for one hour, the focus was entirely on technical aspects. The session commenced with the request for a self-introduction, followed by a detailed discussion about the my favorite project, as highlighted in their resume. Given the context of the position in Data Analytics, i elaborated on a relevant project within that domain. Approximately 25 minutes were dedicated to an in-depth exploration of this project, with the interviewer posing intricate questions to gain a comprehensive understanding.

After this, for me, my Interviewer asked me some logical questions. The Questions will be logical but the way of solving is very easy. This is purely about your understanding of questions.

Some SQL queries.

In contrast, candidates in other panels were presented with scenarios and tasked with identifying various Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

For example scenarios like:

  • Road Accidents in particular areas.
  • CAB scenario (Like uber cabs scenario)

Towards the conclusion of the interview process, candidates were asked questions such as “Why do you want to join PayPal?” and “What are your ambitions?” From the pool of 12 finalists, 2 candidates were ultimately selected for the PayPal internship. It’s worth noting that this entire process was conducted remotely due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
