Python VLC Instance – Unsetting Logging Callbacks
In this article we will see how we can unset the logging callbacks from the Instance class in the python vlc module. VLC media player is a free and open-source portable cross-platform media player software and streaming media server developed by the VideoLAN project. Instance act as a main object of the VLC library with the Instance object we can create media player, list player or any other player available in VLC. Instance class the base classed used in VLC to create various objects. log_unset
method unsets the logging callback. This function deregisters the logging callback for a LibVLC instance. This is rarely needed as the callback is implicitly unset when the instance is destroyed.
In order to do this we will use
log_unset
method with the Instance objectSyntax : instance.log_unset()
Argument : It takes no argument
Return : It returns None
Below is the implementation
# importing vlc module import vlc # importing time module import time # creating Instance class object player = vlc.Instance() # creating a new media list media_list = player.media_list_new() # creating a media player object media_player = player.media_list_player_new() # creating a new media media = player.media_new( "death_note.mkv" ) # adding media to media list media_list.add_media(media) # setting media list to the mediaplayer media_player.set_media_list(media_list) # start playing video media_player.play() # wait so the video can be played for 5 seconds # irrespective for length of video time.sleep( 5 ) # unsetting logging callbacks player.log_unset() |
Output :

Below is the implementation
# importing vlc module import vlc # importing time module import time # creating Instance class object player = vlc.Instance() # creating a new media list media_list = player.media_list_new() # creating a media player object media_player = player.media_list_player_new() # creating a new media media = player.media_new( "1.mp4" ) # adding media to media list media_list.add_media(media) # setting media list to the mediaplayer media_player.set_media_list(media_list) # start playing video media_player.play() # wait so the video can be played for 5 seconds # irrespective for length of video time.sleep( 5 ) # unsetting logging callbacks player.log_unset() |
