School Student to an Engineering Student
Introduction:
Transitioning from being an average school student to pursuing a career in Information Technology engineering has been a transformative journey marked by self-discovery and determination. Reflecting on my school years at Techno India Group Public School, Siliguri, I recall the pivotal moments that ignited my passion for technology and propelled me towards my chosen path.
Early School Years and Emerging Ambition:
During my initial school days, I maintained an average academic performance, focusing primarily on last-minute study sessions before exams. However, the turning point arrived in Class 8 when I unexpectedly secured the 3rd position in my final exam results. This achievement served as a catalyst, revealing my true potential and instilling a newfound determination within me. Subsequently, in Class 9, I attained the 1st position, solidifying my resolve to excel academically.
Passion for Technology:
From an early age, I harbored a keen interest in computers and technology. Attending computer science classes and practical labs became a regular and enthusiastic pursuit. The intricacies of programming languages, software applications, and hardware components ignited a sense of excitement within me, laying the foundation for my future academic endeavors.
Educational Pursuits:
With a clear vision of pursuing engineering, I opted for science as my stream during my 10th grade. Throughout Classes 11 and 12, I dedicated myself to mathematics and computer science, honing my skills in preparation for entrance exams. Alongside this, I embarked on rigorous preparations for competitive exams such as IIT-JEE, WBJEE, and the 12th board exams, seeking admission to premier engineering institutions.
Choosing the Path:
After completing my 12th-grade schooling with an impressive 95% in board exams, I encountered a setback with a lower percentile in JEE-Mains. Despite initial disappointment, the unwavering support and encouragement from my parents bolstered my spirits. Embracing their advice, I opted to pursue my dream career path with my WBJEE rank. Subsequently, I secured admission to Information Technology at Netaji Subhash Engineering College, Kolkata, affirming my commitment to realizing my aspirations.
Future Aspirations:
Currently, in my second year, I harbor ambitious plans for my academic journey. Upon completing my B. Tech degree, I intend to undertake the GATE exam, paving the way for pursuing an M.Tech degree. With a steadfast determination and unwavering focus, I aspire to carve a niche for myself in the dynamic field of Information Technology.
Guiding Principles:
Drawing from my experiences, I offer some guiding principles for aspiring students:
Do’s:
- Develop and adhere to a daily schedule to maximize productivity.
- Maintain open communication with parents and close friends, seeking guidance and support when needed.
- Proactively seek clarification on doubts from mentors and dedicate adequate time to tasks and assignments.
Don’ts:
- Avoid procrastination and refrain from leaving tasks until the last moment.
- Exercise humility and avoid becoming complacent, regardless of successes achieved.
- Cultivate resilience and perseverance, understanding that success is a journey that requires patience and determination.
Conclusion:
My journey from an average school student to pursuing Information Technology engineering underscores the power of determination and resilience in realizing one’s dreams. With unwavering support, dedication, and a commitment to lifelong learning, every obstacle becomes an opportunity for growth and advancement. As I continue on this path, I am poised to embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, fueled by a passion for technology and a vision for a promising future.
