UBS Interview Experience (On-Campus) 2023
Education: B.E. ECE from Tier 2 college.
UBS visited our campus in the last week of August 2022.
Hiring Process:-
1st round:
In-person test in college labs. There were around 50 questions to be solved in 1 hour or 1 hour 20 mins. Dont remember exactly.
There were 2 questions of DSA – one easy and the other moderate. Rest were MCQs from CS fundamentals – Java, OOP, OS, and aptitude questions. People who know Java did well comparatively.
2nd round (Technical Interview):
After 3-4 days the technical interview and HR rounds were scheduled. Technical interview was mostly based on profile/ resume. Some people who mentioned DSA faced DSA-oriented questions. Others who had done internships/ projects got questions regarding the tech stack they used.
Mine was a generalised discussion since I kept only those skills in my resume which I was confident about. E.g. React, Django, Java, etc. The interviewers covered my projects since I had highlighted them in my introduction and CV from differences in the architecture of backend frameworks, client-side vs server-side rendering, how you store images in your project ( my answer was Cloudinary), how JSX compiled, apis vs web services etc. Other questions were related to Java OOPs – Inheritance, answering the pieces of code on a piece of paper given by the interviewer, and lastly about B+ trees and indexing and how they were used in my projects.
The interview lasted for an hour. I also mentioned my interest in Finance and I had invested in equity in my college days. These things impressed the interviewers apart from my projects.
3rd Round (HR round):
5-minute discussion on commonly asked questions like what’s your family background, where would you like to see in 5 years, are you interested in higher studies.
Verdict: Selected
Tips :
- Show your interest in the Financial sector or at least willingness to explore and learn.
- Regarding higher studies answer should be ‘No’ or neutral like ‘it depends if opportunity and need arises’ since companies want to invest in loyal candidates.
- Study differences in Cpp and Java OOP concepts. There are many and are contrasting. So if you have Cpp and answer based on that, you might go wrong.
- For Java and OOPs, Kunal Kushwaha’s playlist is more than enough (initial 6-8 videos covering Java and OOPs).
All the best! Just be honest and confident.
