IIIT Vadodara – International Campus Diu (IITV-ICD) Admission Experience

The Indian Institute of Information Technology Vadodara International Campus Diu (IIITV-ICD) is a satellite campus of the Indian Institute of Information Technology Vadodara (IIITV), which is an institute of national importance. IIITV-ICD has been established at Education Hub, Kevdi, Diu in partnership with the Government of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. The graduates from this campus will be awarded degrees by IIIT Vadodara. The campus is spread over 25 acres of land. It presently houses a Government College (B.A., B. Com. and B. Sc. Streams) and a Polytechnic (Diplomas in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil and Marine Engineering; Affiliated to Gujarat Technical University). The Education Hub has the following objectives:

1. To provide quality education with the highest standards.
2. A stimulating learning environment.
3. State-of-the-art infrastructure.

• Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) – Computer Science and Engineering (CSE)

The program is designed to make a strong foundation in CSE that includes electronics and hardware. Computer science courses are introduced in the early semesters while non-IT courses in the later stages. IT workshops are specially designed courses that allow the students to master the use of the latest software technologies. The courses in mathematics, sciences, engineering and humanities enable students to explore the wider applications of technology.

• Total seats for all India students = 108 seats.
• Category distribution of seats:
  • OPEN = 40 seats
  • OPEN – PwD = 3 seats
  • GEN – EWS = 10 seats
  • GEN – EWS – PwD = 1 seat
  • SC = 16 seats
  • SC – PwD = 1 seat
  • ST = 8 seats
  • OBC – NCL = 28 seats
  • OBC – NCL – PwD = 1 seat

1. The candidate must have passed in final examination of 10+2 (Class XII) or its equivalent with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
2. The candidate should have a valid and acceptable JEE Mains percentile or rank (minimum rank or percentile requirement may be relaxed for category students).

The Institute accepts students based on their All India Rank of Joint Entrance Examination or JEE Mains, a competitive exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), Government of India. Candidates have to report to the institute physically for counselling along with certain documents to secure their Admission:

1. Mark Sheets of classes 10 and 12, along with a Category Certificate (If applicable).
2. JEE Mains Score Card.
3. Two passport-size photos.
4. School Leaving Certificate.
5. Domicile Certificate.
6. Aadhar Card or any other item if notified by the Institute.

NOTE:- Keep multiple photocopies of all documents.

The waiting period for document verification was quite long but in the meantime I got my hostel allotted and paid the mess fees. Once my document verification started it was done very quickly and was over within 10 minutes, I submitted all the photocopies required paid the college fees and was enrolled in the Institute. The next day we had our introductory session and met other students from my batch, my parents left for home in the evening.

The hostel rooms and mess food were quite good and better than what most colleges have to offer. The campus is quite beautiful and provides a good learning atmosphere. The staff members and faculty are quite helpful. Teachers are experienced with great in-depth knowledge of their subjects.

Conclusion:

The Institute has the potential to completely change one’s life and set it on a better path. The rest of the students are very accepting and interactive people who give a feeling of homeliness and help with the growth of intellect and personality development. A variety of events and workshops can be expected to be organized to help students mix with their peers and seniors and interact with them to further their formal relations and develop technical connections which will be the college experience. Summer Break here is considered the perfect time for developing and sharpening skills or working on projects.
