IIT-JEE Exam Experience 1

In 2020, I appeared for the IIT JEE Mains exam, and my experience was memorable and exciting during my preparation. I completed my Intermediate in 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic was at its peak. It was a crucial and challenging time due to safety concerns. I was a Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) aspirant, and like many others, I couldn’t attend any preparation centers. We had to rely on online resources, related platforms, and online classes and courses.

I used Vedantu for my Math and Physics classes because there was a female teacher who taught very efficiently. I would rate my Math preparation 9 out of 10 because they provided excellent learning materials. For my preparation, I also used the “Lakshya NTA JEE MAIN 2020” book, which included previous years’ solved papers and mock tests. These resources helped, but they weren’t sufficient for JEE preparation.

When I appeared for my exam, the level seemed manageable but was actually quite challenging. I attempted the Math section first, and I was very happy because I answered about 17-18 out of 25 questions correctly. I then moved to the Physics section, which went averagely for me. Lastly, I tackled the Chemistry section, which I found very difficult; I had no idea about many of the questions, which made me worry about disqualification.

I realized that to qualify for JEE Mains, it’s essential to study all three subjects (Physics, Chemistry, and Math) thoroughly. After the exam, I reviewed the paper again and noticed that many questions were tricky. These questions didn’t always require lengthy solutions; sometimes, a bit of presence of mind could lead to finding the answer quickly. Therefore, practicing tricky questions is crucial, as it helps in solving them more efficiently.

The exam was computer-based, and I found the navigation easy. The exam environment was good, and the staff at the center were helpful with any issues during and before the exam. Overall, I would rate the center, exam, and staff 5/5.

In 2020, my exam was supposed to take place about a month after my previous exam, but due to safety concerns, it kept getting postponed. Eventually, the exam was held six months after its scheduled time. The repeated postponements frustrated me because I had to continue my preparation using only online resources without any formal courses or subscriptions.

This period was tough, as I had to stay at home most of the time, which was frustrating. Despite this, I stayed focused on my goal to prepare for the JEE. I studied on my own and learned from various platforms. The lack of proper guidance led to my failure in JEE, which was a tough time for me and made me feel like a loser. However, with the support of my family and friends, I managed to cope with the pressure.

Now, I am where I want to be. I have taken admission in a private college and am pursuing my B.Tech degree in Computer Science and Engineering. I have had a good college experience and have developed many technical skills that will help me in my future.

Conclusion

During that time, I learned crucial lessons about the importance of proper guidance and timely preparation. It’s important to seek appropriate guidance, set up a good timetable, and ensure access to valuable study materials. Many students struggle because they don’t have the right resources or guidance.
