IIT-JEE Exam Preparation Experience

Competitive exams often come in various formats, ranging from multiple-choice questions to essay-based assessments. Understanding the format is crucial, as it influences your preparation strategy. Some exams may have sections dedicated to specific subjects, while others test a broad range of knowledge. Additionally, time constraints are common, so time management skills are essential.

Preparation Strategies for JEE:-

I started early, preparing at least 6 months before the exam date to ensure that I covered the topics in time. I made a Study Schedule like planning out my study schedule to ensure consistent progress and avoid last-minute grills because you will miss out on things. Focused on Weak Areas: Identified my weak areas and gave more time to those subjects or topics. Practice with sample questions to familiarize yourself with the exam format by practicing the previous year’s questions and identifying areas where you need improvement. Stay updated with current events and developments in various fields to enhance your general knowledge.

Pattern of Exam:-

There are 2 methods for giving JEE Exam: JEE Mains and JEE Advance. First, we have to go through the JEE mains and then for JEE Advance. The exam is totally based on MCQ Questions which we have to submit on a OMR sheet. The JEE Main exam has a total of 90 questions from all three subjects. The exam has 30 questions each from Physics Chemistry and Mathematics. Out of 30 questions, 20 are multiple choice questions and 10 are questions with numerical value answers. And JEE Advanced consists of two papers, each of three hours duration. Both papers are mandatory and carry equal weightage. The exam comprises a mix of multiple-choice questions (MCQs), numerical answer type (NAT) questions, and matching type questions. The subjects covered are Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

Subject or Individual topics to focus on:-

The following topics can be easily covered within few days and they carry significant weightage as well in this exam.

  • PHYSICS:- semi conductors, modern physics, communication systems, electro dynamics, center of mass
  • CHEMISTRY:- environmental chemistry, alkyl halides, chemistry in every day life, p blocks
  • MATHS:- conics, differential calculus, mathematical reasoning, sets, relations and functions

CAUTION:- Never ignore the topics which might not attract your attention like mathematical reasoning, environmental chemistry, semi conductors. These topics carry significant weightage . Each marks matter when you are thinking of securing or rather grabbing a seat in which, along with you, more than a million students are competing for the same seat that you are aspiring to garb.

Do’s and Don’ts which I followed in my JEE preparation through which I CRACKED it!!!!!

Do’s:-

Remained Calm and Focused throughout the exam, Effective Time Management like allocating the time sensibly across various sections and questions, Carefully read the instructions to prevent errors, make sure you comprehend the directions before attempting any questions, Examine responses took some time at the conclusion to go over the responses and, if necessary, make any revisions, Maintaining Health to perform at the best, getting enough sleep, eat a balanced diet, and drink plenty of water.

Don’ts:-

Don’t Panic, Don’t Limit Yourself to One Issue, Avoid guessing responses unless you can rule out some possibilities, Don’t Neglect Mock Exams mock exams assist main areas that need work by simulating the real exam atmosphere.
