JIS College Of Engineering Admission Experience

Hi! I am a student of JIS College Of Engineering. I started my journey here in 2022. After passing the WBJEE (West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination) I have the opportunity to get admission to this college. It is a private college.

Let me clear one thing to you. 2022 was a post-pandemic year so all the exams were in a hurry to be completed. Normally the HS exam of WB board and WBJEE gets at least 1 month gap. But after taking the HS examination in the home centre we got 2 days to WEBJEE. And remember the question patterns of these 2 exams have a big difference.

If you prepare only for HS and will sit for JEE you can’t score a good rank for Engineering. You have to prepare for JEE side by side with your HS. But don’t get afraid if you fail to score a good rank. If your rank is under 20k you still have a chance to fulfill your dream. Another thing, you can have a TWF rank which will help you to get admission to colleges with less fee structure (it costs only half of the normal fee structure of the particular college). My general rank was 19k but I scored 3k in TFW quota. That is why I got the chance to get admission to my hometown college.

Studying in a hometown college is much more beneficial than studying from a hostel or mess. You will get more time to invest in your career as you do in school life. You will get more chances to explore new things of your interest. The hostelers will also get some benefits like group study etc. Studying in a private college is not a shame.

If the college’s faculty is good and if you are getting an opportunity for your area of interest you should go for it, if you can manage financially don’t matter a private college. It will also teach you the same as government colleges and maybe sometimes better you can get. Talking about the on-campus placement if your college is in a good location then you will get a good company to sit for an interview. For example, Techno India University is in Salt Lake Sector V Kolkata, where all the MNC’s offices are there. So being private college students they have a huge chance to secure a good job.

Remember, in an interview which college you are from doesn’t matter, the skills, the knowledge, and the certifications matter, your responses matter.
