As of March 2023, India has 34 international airports, 103 domestic airports, and 10 customs airports. The Airport Authority of India (AAI) manages all 137 airports in India.
- Kerala is the only state in India with four international airports: Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, Cochin International Airport, Calicut International Airport, and Kannur International Airport. Kerala is also the only state with the closest proximity to multiple international/domestic airports in the country.
- Tamil Nadu is another Indian state with four international airports: Chennai, Coimbatore, Tiruchirappalli, and Madurai.
- Uttar Pradesh is the only state in India with five international airports, including three that are fully operational and two that are proposed to open in 2023–2024. The five airports will be located at Azamgarh, Aligarh, Moradabad, Chitrakoot, and Shravasti
- Indira Gandhi International Airport: It’s the main airport for the Delhi metropolitan area and the busiest airport in India, handling more than 70 million passengers. It’s also the 17th busiest in the world and 6th busiest in Asia for both passenger and cargo traffic.
- Kempegowda International Airport: Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) is an international airport in Bangalore, India that serves the city and its metropolitan area. It’s the third-busiest airport in India by passenger traffic, air traffic, and cargo, and serves more than 15 million passengers annually.
- Some famous international airport in India includes: Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Veer Savarkar International Airport, Visakhapatnam International Airport, and Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.
