Turkmenistan suspended YouTube and other social media sites, including LiveJournal, on 25th December in 2009, on Christmas Day. The sudden block of these websites was really shocking news for the people of Turkmenistan.
- The government had not provided any valid reason and no official explanation for this act taken by them.
- On the other hand, the news report represents that the government wants all the citizens to be fully cut off from these social websites and there will be no sharing of any information about the country in the outside world.
- The main reason was claimed as the security reasons for the ban of such social websites.
