Artificial Intelligence (AI): Ethical and Social Implications
However, as much as it has its benefits, incorporating AI into education at a large scale faces numerous challenges. One major problem is data privacy and security. By collecting massive amounts of student information including personal details and learning methods, there are possibilities of unauthorized entry, abuse or breach of confidentiality when using AI systems. To protect students’ data privacy rights, it is important to secure vulnerable data and ensure transparent methods of data gathering.
There are also worries over AI’s effect on human autonomy and decision-making. Over-reliance on AI-based answers may discourage independent questioning by students as they receive information passively. In order for improved learning experiences through AI while protecting student agency and intellectual independence there needs to be a balance struck in this regard.
Artificial Intelligence: Friend or Foe in Student Life
The present-day education system is incomplete without Artificial Intelligence (AI) which has its own set of benefits and challenges for students. As the students go through their academic journey, artificial intelligence appears to be a double-edged sword that offers personalized learning experiences while posing questions about privacy matters, self-determination, and the future of learning.
