Background History of United Nations Organization (UNO)
The history of UNO traces in the early 20th century when the devastation caused by World War I prompted an emergency for the establishment of an international organization to maintain peace and prevent future conflicts. This led to the formation of the League of Nations in 1920, but its efforts were limited and eventually, it failed to prevent the outbreak of World War II.
After World War II, the idea of creating a new international organization gained attention. With the very ideology representatives from 50 countries convened in San Francisco in April 1945 to draft the United Nations Charter, which is the foundational document of the UNO. On October 24, 1945, the UNO officially came into existence as its Charter was ratified by the majority of the founding member states.
