CBSE New Exam Format 2024
The CBSE’s changed exam format for Classes 11 and 12 goes beyond rote memorization. Students will have various question types to showcase their ability to apply knowledge. “MCQs with Application” will require analyzing options to see how a concept applies in a scenario. “Case-Based Questions” will present real-world situations where students need to identify relevant concepts and propose solutions. Finally, “Source-Based Integrated Questions” will provide students with multiple information sources to interpret, connect, and answer a question using their knowledge. This shift emphasizes applying concepts to real-world situations.
CBSE Exam Pattern Changed for Classes 11 and 12
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a significant change in the exam format for Classes 11 and 12. Implemented in the upcoming academic year (2024-25), this change aims to assess students’ ability to apply concepts learned in class to real-world situations.
In short:
- CBSE exams will focus on applying learned concepts to real-world situations through concept application questions (MCQs, case studies, data analysis).
- Weightage of traditional long-answer questions reduced to encourage deeper understanding.
- The new format applies to Classes 11 & 12 starting from the upcoming academic year.
