Chandrayaan 3
Chandrayaan 3 aims to showcase end-to-end capabilities in safe landing and roving on the lunar surface. It features a Lander and Rover configuration and is set to be launched by LVM3 from SDSC SHAR, Sriharikota. The propulsion module will transport the lander and rover configuration to a 100 km lunar orbit. Notably, the propulsion module hosts the Spectro-polarimetry of Habitable Planet Earth (SHAPE) payload, designed to analyze spectral and polarimetric measurements of Earth from lunar orbit. The Lander payloads include Chandra’s Surface Thermophysical Experiment (ChaSTE), an Instrument for Lunar Seismic Activity (ILSA), and Langmuir Probe (LP). Additionally, a passive Laser Retroreflector Array from NASA will facilitate lunar laser ranging studies. Meanwhile, the Rover is equipped with the Alpha Particle X-ray Spectrometer (APXS) and Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscope (LIBS) to assess the elemental composition near the landing site.
