First day in college
In my first year, alongside Java and Python, I managed to study and perform well in university subjects. However, the second semester in January was disrupted by the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, leading to a lockdown on March 26, 2020. During this challenging time, I faced family difficulties with my father being paralyzed due to high diabetes.
The lockdown period made me realize the uncertainty of relying solely on placements. Consequently, me and my friends started preparing for the GATE exam. My dedication to GATE preparation, spending 7 to 8 hours daily, not only helped me prepare for the exam but also improved my understanding of college subjects. Additionally, I created a portfolio website, completed numerous projects, and pursued certification courses on platforms like Coursera and Udemy.
This pattern continued until the end of the second year, without a specific goal for the future, leaving me feeling confused. However, when college resumed regularly in 2021, the first lecture by the Training and Placement Officer, who is also the Director, was an eye-opener. He mentioned that there were hardly 5 months left for the placement season to start, highlighting the lack of company-specific preparation among students.
