History of World Animal Welfare Day
Heinrich Zimmermann, a supporter of animal welfare, worked hard to ensure that March 24, 1925, became the first World Animal Day. The UK-based animal protection organisation Nature Watch Foundation is currently in charge of planning this worldwide event.
The first official World Animal Day website was launched in 2003 by the Nature Watch Foundation, marking a significant milestone. As a central point, this website offers a thorough schedule of events taking place all across the world in relation to World Animal Day. It is also encouraged for supporters to participate by adding their own events to the directory.
Given that it falls on the same day as the patron saint of ecology, Francis of Assisi, World Animal Welfare Day is a significant homage to him. This day provides an important forum for promoting animal welfare globally and increasing awareness of the issue.
World Animal Welfare Day
World Animal Welfare Day was created in 1931 to draw attention to the predicament of endangered species during an ecologists’ meeting in Florence, Italy. The main goal of this day is to harmonize global standards and assistance for animal welfare. The day encourages participation from people, groups, and organizations that love and care for animals. For this reason, it’s also known as “Animal Lovers Day.”
