How to Find a Buried Treasure Map

Finding buried treasure maps can be easy and more quicker if you are in the right direction and knows where it can be, the buried treasure maps can only be found in shipwrecks and ocean ruins.

Step 1: Go to Ocean Biome

The safest bet is to go to the water biome and find some dolphins. Once you do, kill some Salmon and Cod and feed them to the dolphins raw.

Note: When you feed the dolphins, they’ll start leading you to either a Shipwreck or Underwater Ruins. You may need to feed them a couple of fishes before they fully lead you to one or the other.

Step 2: Find a Shipwreck or Ocean Ruin

Shipwrecks are underwater structures that will resemble like a sunken ships, they are spawned in a variety of different positions, mostly they are spawn underwater but also can be spawn partially on land or buried on the beach.

Tip

• When exploring the shipwreck in ocean biome, drink a portion of Night vision to make the water totally transparent

Ocean Ruins can only be found in ocean biomes and appear to look like an underwater village. Within the buildings of an ocean ruin, there will be chests filled with loot.

Hint:

Sometimes you will explore the chest in the center of the ocean be sure to have Respiration and Aqua Affinity enchantments on your armor, so you can reach the bottom of the ocean without drowning.

Note:

• Shipwrecks may have mobs such as drowned spawning, so it’s best to be cautious when exploring.
• Ocean Ruins are a bit rarer than shipwrecks and can be quite treacherous to navigate.

Step 3: Find “Map Chest”

Inside each shipwreck, you can find up to three chests Treasure Chest, Supply Chest and Map Chest with a variety of loot. To get a treasure map, you need to locate the map chest.

Note: Map chest are not labeled, but this chest will be located in the lower section of the ship. If there is a map chest, there is a 100 percent chance it will contain a buried treasure map.

Step 4: Open the “Map Chest” and move the “Buried Treasure Map” to your inventory

When you find Map chest move the buried treasure map to your inventory to locate treasure.

For both Java and Bedrock, it’s the same odds of finding a Treasure map in a shipwreck.

• Shipwreck (Map chest): 100%
• Underwater Ruins (Small Chest Ruins): 41.7%
• Underwater Ruins (Big Chest Ruins): 43.5%
