How to Repost on Instagram

Reposting on Instagram has become as easy as drawing a line on paper (okay it might be lil’ tricky but with practice it’s really easy). There are 3 ways to repost on Instagram and we’ll share them in the chronological way so you can repost relatable or not-so-relatable posts in a jiffy.

Now you can share/repost reels and post by using Instagram’s own feature. However, there are some limitations to keep in mind. You can share these posts, but only temporarily, for up to 24 hours. If you want to keep them around for good, you have the option to add them to an Instagram Story Highlight. So, while you can’t repost your main profile, you can still curate your favorite content in a more lasting way with Story Highlights.

Step 1 – Find the post/reel to repost

Go to the post or reel you want to repost privately or publically to your followers.

Step 2 – Click the airplane symbol on the post or Reel

This icon is typically located at the bottom of the post or reel, and it’s used to initiate the reposting process. In reels, it’s located at right bottom.

Step 3 – Click “Add post to your story”

Next step is to click the + sign in left bottom when the pop up comes. You can even share it with someone you’ve recently contacted or just directly share with the original poster.

Step 4 – Show or Hide the Caption

With just one click over the image, you can either show or hide the caption on the original post.

Step 5 – Add sticker, music to your repost

You can add stickers and music of your choice to the post/repost on Instagram.

Step 6 – Repost the Story

Last step is to click the button labeled “Your Story.” This action will automatically share the post without any further steps needed.

If you prefer to limit the audience to a select group, you can click “Close Friends.” For even more sharing options, click the right-hand arrow, which allows you to send the post via direct message or share it specifically with your close friends.
