Organisational Structure of UIDAI
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is a government establishment formed under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. It functions as a department. Its main role is to oversee the execution of the Aadhaar initiative, which seeks to grant each resident a 12-digit identification number known as Aadhaar. UIDAI operates at both regional levels. The UIDAI operates as a government organisation with the following components:
1. Chairperson: The UIDAI is led by a Chairperson, a government official. The Chairperson oversees the authority’s functioning and ensures compliance with the Aadhaar Act and government policies.
2. Chief Executive Officer (CEO): The CEO is responsible for the day-to-day operations of UIDAI, playing a role in delivering Aadhaar services to residents across India.
3. Regional Offices: UIDAI has established offices throughout the country to facilitate Aadhaar enrollment and provide support to residents. These offices play a role in promoting the adoption of Aadhaar.
