Relation Between kg and Newton
The relationship between kilograms (kg) and newtons (N) is defined by Newton’s second law of motion, which states that the force F acting on an object is equal to the mass m of the object multiplied by its acceleration a. Mathematically, it can be expressed as:

Force = mass × 9.81 m/s²
Hence, to convert mass from kilograms to newtons, we multiply the mass by 9.81 and to determine mass from a force in newtons, divide the force by 9.81.
Let Force = 1 N and mass = 1 kg, then from above we can conclude that:
- One kilogram of mass applies a force of 9.81 newtons under the influence of gravity.
