Solved Multiplication Property of Equality
Example 1: Solve 3x = 12.
Solution:
Given: 3xβ = 12
Multiply both sides by 1/3
β3x Γ 1/3β = 12 Γ 1/3
β x = 12/3
β x = 4
So, the solution for x is 4.
Example 2: If 3x/4 = 36, then find the value of x.
Solution:
Letβs multiply both sides by the multiplicative inverse of 3/4 into 4/3.
3x/4 Γ 4/3 = 36 Γ 4/3
β x = 48
Example 3: Let b and c be real numbers such that z/2 = 3x and z/3 = 2z. Then show how x = z.
Solution:
In First equation z/2 = 3
Letβs multiply both sides by 2.
(z/2) Γ 2 = 3x Γ 2
β z = 6x
In Second Equation z/3 = 2z, and Substitute the value of z also.
6x/3 = 2z
β 2x = 2z
