Trophic Levels of Food Web
There are two major categories of the Food Web. These categories can be represented as the distinct trophic levels as mentioned below.
Autotrophs
- In a food web autotrophs are the major components.
- They are the organisms that produce their food with the energy of the sunlight, hence called producers.
- These autotrophs are the base of the different food chains and food webs.
- They provide the energy and major nutrients for other trophic levels.
Heterotrophs
- Heterotrophs are those organisms that cannot produce their food.
- They depend directly on the autotrophs or other organisms for their food.
