What is Jakob’s Principle of Design?
As underneath Jakob’s Law of Design, lying in cognitive psychology and HCI is the desired result of the correspondence of design components with users’ mental models and established interactive modes. Finally, Jakob’s Law points out the basic notion in the fact that familiar website designs or experiences are much preferred and expected by every user. Whether the extensive engagements of the users with particular interfaces, systems, platforms, or apps, it is this principle that highlights how the diversity of such interactions heavily determines users’ experiences. Since people have already formed these models in their memories, the designers’ task is to find ways to design experiences, that will be compatible with these models and will generate familiarity, predictability, and usability.
