What worked for me and points to remember:
- If you do not know much about a particular topic that is outside your curriculum or skillsets, state that you have an elementary idea about it and show your willingness to learn. It leaves a positive impact on your interviewer.
- The interviewers are usually much more senior in age and expertise. Don’t be intimidated or over-confident when presenting yourself. Reciprocate their positive energy and engage in a conversation instead of a viva exam tone.
- It is extremely important to have at least basic knowledge of all the topics in your engineering curriculum. For a core engineering role, a significant weightage is given to your main subjects both in OA and Technical Interviews.
- Prepare 3-4 topics from your curriculum thoroughly, especially the ones that are congruent to the interests of the company and the position that you are applying for.
- It is advisable to have prior technical experiences like Internships or Vocational Training to validate your skillsets.
- Provide a short description for each project that you have mentioned in your resume and learn the specifics by heart.
- Do proper background research about the company before the interview, especially its vision, mission, and achievements.
