LPU Campus Experience (2021-2024)

Embarking on my Bachelor of Technology (BTech) journey at Lovely Professional University (LPU) has been a transformative experience, filled with highs and lows that have shaped my academic and personal growth. From the cutting-edge infrastructure to the diverse opportunities, my three years at LPU have been quite eventful.

The BTech program at LPU is well-structured, focusing on both theoretical and practical knowledge. Each summer, we had to undergo training in a specific tech stack. For me, it was NodeJS, a powerful tool for server-side development. These summer trainings were intensive but rewarding, culminating in a project and a final exam to earn certification. This hands-on approach significantly boosted my practical skills and prepared me for real-world challenges.

One of the notable aspects of LPU is its placement opportunities. Although the process starts as early as the second year, things ramp up in the third year. LPU hosts a large number of companies, around 800+, offering various roles including internships. The highest package offered was around 48 LPA, and the minimum was 2 LPA. Despite the competitive nature, about 80% of the students managed to secure placements. This period was stressful but also exciting, as it gave us a glimpse into the professional world.

Financing education at LPU requires careful planning. During my tenure, the semester fee was INR 98,000, and hostel fees for a 5-seater AC room were around INR 80,000. Scholarships based on 12th-grade marks, JEE scores, or the LPUNEST exam provided some relief. Additionally, there were banks on campus offering educational loans. This made it somewhat easier to manage the financial load, though the rising fees each year were a concern.

Campus life at LPU was vibrant and dynamic. The infrastructure, including a multi-floor library open until midnight, was impressive. There was always something happening on campus, from academic events to cultural festivals, making it a lively place to be. The diverse student body and the array of activities helped in building a well-rounded university experience.

Living in the hostel was a mixed experience. I stayed in a 5-seater AC standard room, which I managed to book at INR 70,000 by securing it early. The room itself had its issues, but any problems were usually addressed within a day or two. While the facilities were basic, the sense of community and the convenience of living on campus made up for it.

Getting into LPU was a straightforward process. Eligibility required passing 12th grade, followed by filling out an online application on the LPU admission website. The LPUNEST exam played a crucial role in securing a scholarship. I found the admission process smooth, with clear guidance from the Admission Department.

The faculty at LPU varied in their teaching styles and effectiveness. Most were highly qualified with MTech or PhD degrees. The practical subjects were particularly well-taught, with a focus on hands-on learning. However, like any institution, the quality of teaching could be inconsistent at times, but overall, the educational experience was positive.

Reflecting on my BTech experience at LPU, it’s been a journey of growth and learning. While there were challenges, the exposure to new technologies, the opportunities for internships, and the vibrant campus life made it worthwhile. My time at LPU has not only prepared me for a career in technology but also enriched my personal development, making me ready to face the future with confidence.
