KIET Group of Institutions Ghaziabad Hackathon Experience

Hello there!! Lemme share with you the news of the week – the first 2 excerpts from “My 1st ever-hackathon experience” have already been published! If you haven’t checked them out yet, then here you go :

And now brace yourself as I continue to narrate about my experience at Innohacks 3.0, KIET Group of Institutions Ghaziabad!

28th April, 2024 – Mentoring Round 1

As soon as we returned to the hacking venue after the opening ceremony, we sat on our desks & began working. The UI of our prototype was almost ready already, and 2 of my teammates began working on a couple of features. Meanwhile, the other 2, including me, began to prepare the pitch as we knew that the 1st mentoring round would begin in no time. Only 10 minutes must have passed & we saw our mentor, Yuvraj Sir approaching our desk with one of the club coordinators. Of course, we weren’t prepared by then! We were literally like, “Huh? We just started, no?” Anyway, we decided to brief him about what our mobile app was. We told him about the idea behind “Worklite”, our mobile application designed for lesser-educated women workers at various organizations. We also told him about some of the features we planned to include in the app.

Although he got the gist of it, he advised us to work on our USP (Unique Selling Proposition) & include some more unique features that would benefit our target audience.

Work! Work! Work!

Once our first mentor left our desk, all 4 of us got into brainstorming mode. Thinking about additional unique features is as difficult as incorporating those features into the pre-existing prototype. But we had to take the challenge somehow & add power to Worklite before the next mentoring round! After a quick discussion, we decided to add 3 more features, 2 of which were especially aimed at aiding women workers. We also decided to make a website prototype to house 1 of our new features. Yes!! We have a lot more work to do before the upcoming mentoring round!

Our Progress

It was around 2 p.m. – time to have lunch. By that time, 1 of our new features was already residing in the app, & the UI for the website was almost ready. We decided to proceed to the cafeteria & quickly grab our meal. As we had lunch, we discussed preparing our pitch more effectively & putting forward our USP & emphasizing it during the next round. We were a little nervous because of our not-the-best experience during round 1 as well as because of many cool projects we had witnessed around us since morning, that bagged high praises in round 1. But, we decided not to lose hope & give our best. So, we rushed back to the hacking venue after lunch & resumed the grind.

That was all for Part 3!

To be continued. Stay tuned for Part 4!
