Brazil has been the world’s leading coffee producer for over 150 years, producing an average of 2.68 million metric tons yearly. Brazil produced 69 million 60-kilogram coffee bags in 2020, making up approximately 40% of the world’s coffee supply. The top 5 countries that produce coffee are Brazil, Vietnam, Indonesia, Colombia, and Ethiopia. Although coffee is grown in over 70 countries, most of the world’s coffee is produced in these five countries. Vietnam produced over 20% of the world’s coffee in 2020, with Brazil producing 40%. Brazil is the highest coffee-producing country with 2.993,780 tonnes of coffee produced in the year 2023, followed by Vietnam and Indonesia with 1,845,033 tonnes and 765,415 tonnes of coffee produced in the year 2023.
