Articles with Proper Nouns
When referring to individuals, places, or things by their proper nouns, we do not use articles. An architect, Alice. Mary is my friend, NOT Alice or Alice. NOT a Mary India’s capital is Delhi. However, we use “the” after plural names. The Smiths and I are eating supper together.
Proper Noun – Definition, Examples, & Rules
There are two primary categories of nouns: common and proper. Proper nouns are name words that are used to designate or categorize a particular person, place, or thing, whereas common nouns are generic. Make sure that the first letter of a proper noun is always capitalized.
