Badminton Players Ranking Criteria
Badminton players are ranked by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) based on their performance in tournaments sanctioned by the BWF. The ranking points are calculated from the best 10 results of the players in the last 52 weeks. The level and progress of the tournament determine the number of points awarded to the players. There are five types of rankings: World Ranking, World Tour Ranking, World Junior Ranking, World Team Ranking, and Olympic/World Championship Qualification Ranking.
Each ranking has a list for each of the five badminton disciplines: men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. The rankings are used to seed players in tournaments, qualify players for major events, and indicate the performance of players over time.
