Green Fins Code of Conduct
Through the Green Fins code of conduct, the diving and snorkeling industry can manage environmental standards and marine tourism. The code of conduct is described below:
- Do not touch any fish, coral, manta rays, or anything else while diving. If a manta ray comes to you, stay calm, but do not touch it.
- You should always maintain a minimum distance of 2/3 meters from the manta ray or mola mola.
- While driving, do not touch any soft or hard corals.
- Do not touch or try to catch any seafish.
- Always keep a distance from unknown types of corals or any other animals.
- Do not take any coral reefs, even if they are dead.
Green Fins Hub
The Green Fins Hub is a first-ever platform for the global marine tourism industry that helps diving and snorkeling operators across the world make it simple and cost-efficient and promotes the sustainability of marine tourism. The United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) and the UK-based charity Reef-World Foundation jointly launched the Green Fins Hub to boost sustainable marine tourism. The Green Fins were originally established in Thailand in 2004 for the adoption and implementation of best practices in the diving and snorkeling tourism industry. It’s a digital platform for diving and snorkeling operators globally. Read below to find out more.
