How to make a FaceTime call to non-Apple users
Only people with an iPhone, iPad, or MacBook can make a FaceTime call and share the invite link with non-Apple users. Here’s how to do it:
- Open FaceTime and tap Create Link.
- A mini screen will appear. Under FaceTime Link, tap Add Name.
- Type a name for your link, then tap OK to save it.
- In the mini screen, choose where to share your link. Or, tap Copy and paste the link where you want to send it.
- By default, FaceTime creates a message with the invite link. You can change the message if you want. When you’re ready, send the invitation.
- You’ll get a notification when someone tries to join your FaceTime call. Tap the notification to manage participants.
- Tap the green checkmark to allow someone to join the call.
Remember, you need to grant permission for anyone to join the call, even if they click the Join button many times.
How to use FaceTime on your Android device or PC
For years, many Android users wanted to use FaceTime because of its great video and audio quality. In 2021, Apple made a big change by allowing people with Android phones, tablets, Windows PCs, and Chromebooks to use FaceTime from a web browser. This was surprising because Apple usually doesn’t let users replace its own apps with others.
Now, Apple users can set these browsers as their default apps, which is a big step.
When using FaceTime from a web browser, the experience is a bit different. There are fewer features, and you still need an Apple device to start FaceTime calls.
To help Android users access FaceTime, we’ve included a guide that shows you how to use FaceTime from a web browser and explains some challenges you might face.
